Jerry and his wife, Cassie, were not getting along. They had a baby now, but Cassie still wouldn't grow up
and quit drinking and doing drugs. It was just a matter of time before one or the other filed for divorce. An argument in a bar got out of hand. When they went home, where Jerry's mom was watching the baby, Sandra assaulted Jerry's mom and Jerry attempted to shield his mom and calm Cassie down. But Cassie was steamed and wanted to drive off with their baby. Not knowing what to do, Jerry called the police. Cassie was the one who got arrested. Bt the next thing Jerry knew, he was served with a temporary domestic violence restraining order. Jerry had just started a new job. And he wanted to seek primary timesharing with their baby, to protect him from Cassie's drinking and drug abuse. Jerry was pretty concerned. He didn't know how an order of protection might impact his job and his chance for primary timesharing. The stakes were high. Jerry hired me as his domestic violence attorney to defend against the protective order in domestic violence court. We thoroughly prepared Jerry and his mother for their first time testifying in court. That preparation paid off big time. Jerry and his mother did a great job. It was pretty obvious to the Court that Jerry didn't deserve a restraining order. The judge dismissed Cassie's case. Jerry was so happy and relieved, both for himself and his son. Cassie's troubles didn't end their though. The criminal case against her went on. NOTE: Every case is different. Just because Jerry achieved this outcome doesn't mean that your case will.
